This chip has been deisgned to measure the heart or pacemaker rate and store the results over multiple weeks in an external SRAM memory card. The chi cpnverts the time difference between pulses into a more common beats per minute notation and then the difference between two consecutive pulses ar encoded using Huffman Algorithm, and the compressed value is stired in the external memory. An 8-bit microcontroller interface is provided for communication.
