LAPI is a flexible, cascadable module that is used to control LED matrix displays. One chip is able to drive a 8x8 matrix of LEDs. The chip is able to store the content of this matrix and provides instructions to shift the display, load new rows and columns and allows a column to be combined with another. The chip also supports several blink modes.
The name LAPI stands for "LED Array Processing Interface".
