This ASIC realizes the HP-28 - V.24 Centronics optical interface allowing the connection of the HP28 to standard PCs. The system uses the Philips TDA3047 to receive the IR signal and convert it to a digital bit stream. The chip processes the output of this chip and only needs additional drivers for the serial interface.
