A typical conventional sensor data acquisition system generally consists of a front-end amplifier, an anti-aliasing filter, a sample and hold and an A/D converter.
In a student thesis a 3rd order Chebycheff low-pass filter has been developed as part of a transistor-only 1um CMOS sensor data acquisition system using the Gm-C technique. It uses MOSFET gates as capacitors and transconductors working in triode region in a regulated cascode. Damped integrators are used as elementary building blocks. The filter features a digitally programmable cut-off frequency in the range 500Hz downto 100Hz.
