Erich Wenger attended the school for higher technical education (HTL) in Salzburg. After that he fulfilled his military service. Then he finished his Bachelor and Master of Telematics with distinction at the Graz University of Technology. During his studies he broadened his horizon with study exchanges at the McMaster University in Hamilton (Canada) and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zürich (Switzerland) where he did his master thesis. It dealt with a small application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) implementation of the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA).
During his studies he worked part-time at the companies Skidata and AlliedPanels. His work dealt with software and firmware development and test adapter related tasks.
Right now he is working at the Institute for Applied Information Processing and Communications (IAIK) as a PhD student.
