In this student project a waveform generator has been developed. Very high frequency resolution at constant sampling rate has been achieved by Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) of the correct sample phases. 24-bit sine and triangle wave precision could be reached with Taylor approximations in several intervals of the period. The sampling rate can be chosen from standard audio frequencies to more than 45MHz. Uniformly distributed and bandlimited white noise can be generated as well. Parallel or serial programming interfaces and I2S or parallel outputs are available. The two independent channels per chip can be multiplied by synchronizing several of the waveform generator ASICs. In a following semester project the instrument around the ASIC will be developed.
