This chip implements a channel shortener for low overheqd communication protocols needed for Internet of Things (IoT) applications, such as 2G EC-GSM-IoT and Evolved EDGE. This design reduces the complexity on the transceiver by simplifying the equalizer.
The name actually comes from the fact that the designers were drinking a lot of cheap energy drinks and piling them up on their workplace to build a relatively large tower, like the tower of Babylon. And they are extremely proud of their achievement. This is why the chip is called Pride of Babylon.
