Following MLEM, Koopa named after character from Super Mario, is another tapeout based on the Croc SoC platform. Next to various minor updates of the IPs compared to MLEM, Koopa features a newly designed QSPI interface. Koopa uses a new open source library developed by and for the VLSI5 course at ETH Zurich, led by Oscar Castaneda and Christoph Studer. This tape-out uses the initial version of the library, we will have a version with the student contributions taped-out later in the year.
This design has received generous support from Leibniz Institute for High Performance Microelectronics through the BMBF project FMD-QNC (16ME0831).
