Shaheen is an IoT processor based around open-source PULP IPs. It couples a 64-bit Linux-capable CVA6 core, supporting also the H-extension, with an 8 core PULP cluster, featuring 8 FPUs and mixed-precision MAC&Load operations and 256KB of private scratchpad memory.
It also features a lightweight AXI-based Hyperram Controller, to provide enough memory capacity to the host processor.
The cluster and the Host domain can reach up to 500MHz, CVA6 up to 600MHz. The power envelope of Shaheen is within 200mW.
Funded by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), AbuDhabi, Shaheen is the first prototype of a new generation of SoCs for drones with hardware support for virtualization and high-energy efficiency on ML and DSP workloads.
In Arabic Shaheen is a male given name which is the generic term for the peregrine falcon. The name Shaheen is a composite of two nouns, "shah" - king and "īn" - which is a sign of proportion, meaning "royal", literally "king of the birds".
